They conspired to keep the information secret and they all knew the purpose of texting over Signal.
The CIA Director, the National Security Advisor, the Director of National Intelligence, and all the others knew why they were using the Signal app. They did not want anyone, the US Senate included, to know what they were doing. It was a conspiracy of the highest magnitude.
They all knew what they were doing.
No doubt, they will try to minimize it and say that it is no big deal but it is a very big deal. All of those folks were willing to break the law for Donald Trump. Except for maybe one? Somebody had to invite the journalist, Jeffrey Goldberg to the group? Was it an accident or was it intentional? I suspect it may have been the latter?
It is a very serious matter. It is time for the Republicans to step up. They either stand with our country or they stand with Trump?
This is many, many times worse than Watergate.

(2,800 posts)During the group discussion on Signal, Goldberg reported, Ratcliffe named an active CIA intelligence officer in the chat at 5:24 p.m. eastern time, which was just after midnight in Russia. Witkoff's flight did not leave Moscow until around 2 a.m. local time, and Sergei Markov, a former Putin advisor who is still close to the Russian president, said in a Telegram post that Witkoff and Putin were meeting in the Kremlin until 1:30 a.m.

(1,226 posts)Apparently the Signal app is approved by the Whitehouse for comms use but since you can have messages that self delete after the set expiration time, the use of the app by all of these Federal officials and whomever else in the Whitehouse would be a violation the Federal Records Act because this gets around the ability to preserve the records
As well as the NSA itself released that bulletin in February that declared that the Signal app had vulnerabilities that were known to be exploited and recommended that it not be used for government communications not just classified information but any communications

(12,049 posts)that Fascism is basically the merging of Corporations and Government, you would realize that it has been shifting ever since Reagan was installed in the White House, and HW and his CABAL started cranking shit out..........Raising taxes on the middle class, and simultaneously doing MAJOR tax rate cuts for the Wealthiest in the U.S. and substantially lowering the corporate tax rates....
Interesting that the minute HW left the White House, he was installed as President of the Board of the Carlisle (sp) group....a private group of investors including over 600 of the top millionaires in the U.S.
The best title for a book about the past 45+ years would be:

(2,618 posts)because the leaks are so bad. I've learned from watching and reading today that the Signal application is officially allowed in certain circumstances for that reason.
This has to stop. People who are leaking need to be serving heavy prison terms and this mess needs to be cleaned up. We can't have government employees and officials using outside methods for this purpose. And we need to stay consistent about it too, not just when Trump does it.
Think. Again.

(40,426 posts)This military op was just a leak that better be completely stopped by SCOTUS.
When a Sec of Defense's transcript data with the rest of government heads are erased (except for the Goldberg transcripts) we'll never know the extent of the clumsy dumb ways this group will enable the stealth takeover by not just pro-Russia oligarchs but by other countries' cyberintelligence insurgencies.
If we survive both Heritage and Silicon infiltrators and operatives, and maybe win in 2028, this mafia-with-a-military will be leaving a hollowed out government devoid of expertise, data, money, and badly screwed up Internet and communications systems.
