https://www.sfgate.com/politics/article/fear-anger-california-democrat-town-halls-20238638.phpAmericans are increasingly concerned about President Donald Trump and Elon Musks gutting of the federal government, with polls showing a majority of people want Musks Department of Government Efficiency cuts to be stopped or slowed down. Thats left Republicans largely avoiding constituents, but it also hasnt been good news for Democrats in California.
California Democrats were lambasted at a series of town halls over the past week, with constituents demanding the party do more to stand up to billionaire Musks cuts to government services.
I want to know why in the world the Democratic Party hasnt fought yet? asked one resident at a town hall Rep. Ro Khanna hosted in the Inland Empire on Sunday. Khanna, whose district includes Sunnyvale, Cupertino and Milpitas, hosted events in three Republican-held districts in the Central Valley and Orange County over the weekend. At each one, Politico said, Democrats were unambiguously being put on blast.

While Democrats host events, California Republicans have largely avoided facing their constituents. The town hall furor comes as Musk, an unelected campaign donor to Trump, moves to fire hundreds of thousands of public workers and cut funding to federal agencies like the National Park Service and the National Weather Service.

waiting for Clark Kent to hit the phone booth. They don't know how their government has worked for the soon be last 250 years. Wading, swimming, and drowning in bullshit has turned truth into a real treasure hunt.

(27,854 posts)3. Khanna is a populist, of course he'd attract anti-Democratic populists.
Thinks there'll be a left and right-wing populist alliance, envies the Tea Party and Trump for transforming the Republican Party: "If Donald Trump could take over the Republican Party, sure we could take over the Democratic Party to make it the way we want it to be."

Being angry with Democrats at this point, is like giving Superman a kryptonite necklace, and then bitching that he didn't stop the speeding fright train.
