My SS check, always deposited on this day

1. Did you check with your bank?

Mine always shows up a day before the scheduled date of deposit. Says “pending”.

Not sure how long you have been receiving your checks via deposit. Keep in mind that it won’t be on the same DATE in each month like “the 21st” for example. The deposit is always the same day of the week like the “Second Tuesday” of the month.

That’s the way mine is as well. When I make a payment from a bank account on a bill in advance it says the same thing-pending.

If the 3rd is on a Saturday or Sunday, I will get my check on the Friday before the weekend.
My March check came on Thursday, 27 February when the 3rd of March was on a Monday. Why? Should I complain about that?

My husbands is the 2nd Wednesday of the Month.

These are direct deposits, not checks in the mail, if that makes a difference.

It's always on the second Wed. I don't know that I've ever checked at 11pm on Tue but it's always there Wed morning.

always deposited on the third day of the month unless the third is on a weekend. Then it’s deposited on the Friday before the third or sometimes on the Monday after the third. I have never really been sure when my husbands is deposited, but usually around the 20th of the month.

Scheduled to receive on or about 3/19 (wed) but it wasn't in my bank until 3/21 (Fri)

9. SS checks

They are always posted at midnight on Tuesday as all SS checks are issued on Wednesday depending on your birth date. Either 2nd Wednesday{born 1st thru 10th), 3rd Wednesday (born 11th thru 20th) or 4th (born 21st thru 31st) Wednesday. It has been this way forever. Some banks will provide money earlier as a courtesy to long-term accounts.

Nothing to do with my birthday or any Wednesday of the month. Always the 3rd or the previous Friday if that falls on a weekend.

Social Security payment schedule:

Birthdays between the 1st and 10th: Payments are made on the second Wednesday of the month.

Birthdays between the 11th and 20th: Payments are made on the third Wednesday of the month.

Birthdays between the 21st and the end of the month: Payments are made on the fourth Wednesday of the month.

If the payment date falls on a federal holiday or weekend, the payment will be made on the preceding business day .

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments are made on the first of each month . If the first falls on a weekend or holiday, the payment will be made on the preceding business day.

30. You're on the old system still, grandfathered in to it. Many were taken off that system.

I was a fourth Wednesday until I qualified for Medicare and was also able to get Medicaid. I got a letter saying my new payment date was the third. I'd just gotten my fourth Wednesday check, and got another just over a week later (February birthday). My guess is to keep the system easier to manage, getting all checks and such at the same time.

My father was always a third of the month, but my mother was changed over to a fourth Wednesday person. She'd been collecting a lot less time than Daddy.

LILBIT SSDI,always hit the 1st of the month, MrsK always hit near the 1st, but her birthday was on the 4th, so hers came on first Wed.
Rand, seems to me, your bank, experienced, a glitch, or, you spent, because, you thought, you knew, your bank would credit your account, early.
MrsK , did this all the time, She would spend, on Tuesday, to get paid, on Wednesday.


And I've been here before, your account balance is lower, and you have some outstanding credits, banks will take , the fees first.

A more simple answer would be something having to do with your bank. With tens of millions of SS deposits and checks going out each month, the Law of Averages would say some would not be on time.

34. The last couple of years, I never really know when my check will come.

Like clockwork on the fourth Wednesday. Then I turned 65, and now it's either days early, even if the third is on a non-holiday weekday. The last two months, it came the Friday before, when the third was a regular day. Never any explanation, just shows up. And it's available, too, per my credit union account (state employee credit union).

I have no real explanation for why my account has been weird the last two years, but it's a worry to me now whether it's even going to drop, due to the Trump/Musk actions. It's a miracle to me I've still gotten it even on the schedule I've had. I just hope it's on time in April, as I have a slightly-less monstrous electric bill due. Happy Spring! But already dreading the summer heat with accompanying cooling costs.

I have a mother in law who is terrified that he social security will stop showing up, she's basically said she'd just kill herself rather than be a burden to her children if social security stopped. That's probably Musk's plan, to get a bunch of the elderly to kill themselves.
