"SNIP.............

“Florida has been working for years to crack down on employers that hire undocumented immigrants. But that presented a problem for businesses in the state that are desperate for workers to fill low-wage and often undesirable jobs,” CNN reports.

“Florida’s Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis and the state legislature have a potential solution: children.”

“The state’s legislature on Tuesday is set to debate a bill that would loosen child labor laws, allowing children as young as 14 years old to work overnight shifts. If the new law is passed, teenagers would be able to work overnight jobs on school days.”

oligarchs, ceos and their politicians are always looking for a way to create "efficiencies". Making poor kids work certainly profits hedge funds and corporations: they can pay children less and it increases the number of people looking for work, lowering wages. People always say Canada has not increased productivity (efficiencies) much since WWII, compared with the USA, and we need to. But have the last 80 years in Canada been so bad for the average person? We don't have nearly the inequality in Canada that the USA has. By creating efficiencies you redistribute money from the welfare of the workers to the morbidly oligarch and ceo bonuses and stockholders. Think stopping bathroom breaks and how millions of Americans works can no longer have a coffee to start out their workdays. I think efficiencies is just an oligarch/ceo fetish having to do with becoming bigger millionaires or bigger billiionnaires. Yeah you do not want outright waste. But I think it is a waste of well-being to have kids working all night and then trying to go to school and do homework. Ask Jim Carrey what it was like to work as a child. It is horrid.
