That's a serious question.

Claiming an identity that some of us hold at literal risk of our livelihoods or lives -- even if it's just in this theoretically "safe" space -- seems a bit glib. Am I missing something?

What many of us in the trans communities think is that non-trans people standing up for us publicly accomplishes a lot more. If a trans person, or the parent or partner of one, stands up for us, their opinions are often disregarded. But when non trans people say that we are part of the whole community, that accomplishes a lot more.

The legislation against trans people playing in sports has gone to the Senate. Do you know how your representative voted? Have you contacted your Senator to tell them to vote against it? Sadly, some Democrats voted in favor of it in the House.

Are you aware that The Trevor Project (suicide lifeline for trans youth) has had an increase in calls, but a shortfall in funding -- and they have to restructure. That likely means layoffs.

Anyway, to those of you doing this "small thing," I'd be interested in learning more about your choice.

I have seen post after post of "there's nothing we can do" or "we're stuck with this"

I'm a reader of From Dictatorship to Democracy by Gene Sharp.

I'm not going to do the government approved virtue signaling of "nothing" or being a "good American"

Reich-wing billionaire, Peter Thiel, has been a backer of this one- https://28.co/

Though vocal about his libertarian leanings in the past, megainvestor Peter Thiel recently turned his attention more directly to politics, funding “new right” campaigns in Arizona and Ohio to support his own political vision. His recent investment in 28, a period tracking app created by the founders of Evie Magazine, demonstrates interest in a feminine new right that encourages young women to abandon feminism and progressive causes such as trans and abortion rights.
