Dr. Fauci did nothing wrong. You are correct about that.
You're joking right?

(287 posts)Most of these pardons were done so the incoming administration does not unjustly go after them.

(123,950 posts)to prevent Trump's goons from trying to prosecute him and the members of the 1/6 Committee, as they have threatened to do, even though they committed no crime. Biden said, "I believe in the rule of law, and I am optimistic that the strength of our legal institutions will ultimately prevail over politics. But these are exceptional circumstances, and I cannot in good conscience do nothing. Baseless and politically motivated investigations wreak havoc on the lives, safety, and financial security of targeted individuals and their families. Even when individuals have done nothing wrong and in fact have done the right thing and will ultimately be exonerated, the mere fact of being investigated or prosecuted can irreparably damage reputations and finances."

(108,924 posts)Sorry to scream but just asking this (and I know you are just asking) makes me crazy.
Biden did everything HE could do to protect Fauci and the others from Trump's dictatorial efforts to harm them by unjust, unwarranted yet $$$$costly investigations for the targeted and to protect them from the potential violence that such unlawful prosecutions could incite.

(33,678 posts)Trump, no doubt, wants to bankrupt Dr. Fauci by dragging him through the courts, and forcing him to have to pay for lawyers, while Trump will have his thugs in the DOJ working for him on the taxpayers' dime.
Trump has always been a HUGE fan of SLAPP lawsuits, and this is just another iteration of that: Strategic lawsuits against public participation, or strategic litigation against public participation, are lawsuits intended to censor, intimidate, and silence critics by burdening them with the cost of a legal defense until they abandon their criticism or opposition. In a typical SLAPP, the plaintiff does not normally expect to win the lawsuit.

(64,198 posts)Those "crimes" include damaging the economy by recommending lockdowns.
Marge also accuses home of causing literally millions of deaths (without evidence of course).
The far fringe also accuses him of covering for China among other claims
from the Q-adjacent fever swamp.
The pardon cuts both ways. It heads off a witch hunt, but it also gives
the crazies something to point out.
EDIT: (I almost forgot). The MAGA nuts have also tried to scapegoat Fauci for the "bungled"
COVID response continued by the Biden administration.

(1,102 posts)This is to preempt any criminal charges that the Oligarchs may want to charge him with. An investigation of him alone would cost Fauci a lot of money in attorney fees.

(5,873 posts)And like most of his more dangerous lies, it starts with the tiniest nugget of truth.
Carlson is a gifted con man, and takes a tiny thread of truth and weaves it into a tapestry of lies.
Dr. Fauci was the top man as NIH at the same time as a grant was given to a US group called EcoHealth Alliance. EcoHealth Alliance separately contributed a small amount to gain of function research at the Wuhan lab that was doing gain-of-function research on coronaviruses.
Fauci was not personally involved in the grant, the grant was not directly to the lab, and the amount contributed to the lab was much smaller than the amount of the grant. 'Seven Degrees of Kevin Bacon' type connections.
But the lunatic fringe now firmly believes that Fauci personally funded the creation of covid.

(57,596 posts)1. He was competent at his job...
2. He believed in scientific evidence instead of disinformation or parroting the party line, which made Dear Leader look like a clueless idiot more than usual...
3. Most unforgivable of all, Fauci wouldn't bow and sacrifice himself at the altar of Dear Leader's ego, which already makes him more honorable than 65 percent of the country...
Y'all should have believed Donnie and Elmer and the rest of the kiddie fascist treehouse when they said reprisals were coming for "political enemies" and anyone else disloyal to the new regime. Donnie has been furiously jerking himself off for years at the dream of being an "American Putin" and now it's a reality. 👎
