He was a true gentleman and never insulted anyone but himself.

A few years back, I heard him in an interview where he was asked about his feelings about President Trump? He replied no comment, but did say he didn’t like how Trump treated people around him. Uecker added if you can’t insult yourself, don’t insult others!

Uecker was one of those people who made a mark in the way I carry myself and I never met the man.

He played a sports reporter. He did a bit of voice work, as well.

I always loved the guy, even though he worked for the Brewers. I'm going to miss him!

appear in a sitcom at one point? I saw him on an old Jonny Carson show a couple months back and he was really kind of funny.

7. Listened to him broadcast since 1972

He was the voice of summer. Great story teller . Sometimes his stories got in the way of the play by play, but it was very entertaining. In the last 2 seasons he would be off the mark on a few calls, and he would make that entertaining too. Brewers fans knew he had health issues but he never talked about it.

I have been dreading this day for awhile. When the Mets knocked the Brewers out this past year, you coud hear it in his emotional voice at the end of the game. He knew it was nearing the end and a last call, so it seemed

Not making it to the WS these past few years was giving Jim something to hold onto. If we didn't win the WS it was because Ueck needed something to keep him going.

I heard it in his voice last season and I knew.

Hubby broke this news to me this morning, and regaled me (a non sports fan) with several of his self deprecating jokes. One involved his father's response when a team offered 100,000 dollars to sign him decades ago when he was very young. His father supposedly said (paraphrased) I don't have that kind of money to get you to take him off my hands.
