Good news for inauguration

When the Felon begins his swearing in at noon, the wind chill will be 7 Degrees.
Better than that, wind gusts will be 24-26 mph. Will he cement his hair in place, or look like a fool by wearing a baseball cap to the ceremony?

I wouldn't put it past him to wear a red MAGA hat, though. 7F wind chill, 26 MPH winds? Here in MN that's just another normal winter day, but the denizens of DC (and Florida) will find it challenging and miserable and they won't be dressed for it. I won't be watching that shit show, but I hope to see a few clips later of Agent Orange and his entourage shivering and stamping their feet and looking stupid in hats that keep blowing away, and trying to hurry through the ceremonies so they can go inside. Malaria will wear a fugly haute-couture coat intended for 45F or so and she'll be freezing her kidneys off. If not properly attended to all that silicone would rapidly freeze solid and then her "kidneys" might well burst. Splattering the inauguration viewing audience with silicone and latex.

Too bad she does not have an over the shoulders wrap around ermine stole, like the British royalty wears. She could wrap that stole around herself tightly and at least contain some of the explosion in the boob blast zone.

Just a thought.

10. President William Henry Harrison
Wed Jan 15, 2025, 12:17 PM
Jan 15

America’s ninth president barely lasted a month in office. William Henry Harrison wasn’t assassinated like some of our later entries but died in 1841 of an acute illness originally diagnosed as pneumonia.

The longstanding belief was that Harrison fell ill after delivering a nearly two-hour Inaugural Address in wet, freezing-cold weather without a jacket, hat or gloves.

But in 2014, epidemiologists concluded that Harrison’s chief symptoms—fatigue and severe abdominal distress—pointed to typhoid contracted from tainted drinking water.

Harrison wouldn’t be the last president to fall victim to Washington, D.C.’s lack of a sewage system, but he safely holds the title of the shortest-serving American president.

However, Vance, whatever cache he has among the below-averages, doesn't have whatever poisonous, corrosive, squalid, malevolent charisma that Trump's supporters respond so feverishly to. You're right; he'll probably have a Der Führer ist Todt honeymoon. But I don't see it lasting long. Every thing that Trump does that his worshippers insist is radical and iconoclastic would just look clumsy and odious if Vance did them. I don't predict the rats will stay on the ship for very long.

In fact, I see some forecasts calling for a 1% chance of precipitation on Monday while others have the chance of snow at 30%. However, it is pretty much guaranteed to be colder than normal for DC (Normal Jan 20 high temp is 45). In 2009 for Obama the noon temp was 28 degrees which is currently the coldest inauguration since Reagan's in 1985 with a noon temperature of 7 degrees.

Cant imagine a very big crowd (despite their claims of 250,000 tickets being requested). The hotels in the area are reported to be waaayyy below capacity meaning not a lot of people are traveling much of a distance to DC for it.

I do not intend to watch the criminal get sworn in. I am disappointed and disgusted that Joe Biden is going to act like this is perfectly normal when it is not. This man is a criminal and should not be allowed to be in the White House. Hooray for Michelle Obama. This is not business as usual. This will not help our Democracy. He is going to destroy our Democracy. Why don't they understand this?
I hope it snows a foot on Monday in Washington D C

While there are slightly different forecasts for Inauguration Day in DC, the consensus is high around 27 deg, winds 10, gusting to 20+, which puts the wind chill in the mid- to low-teens.

I'm 2.5 hour drive out of DC where Potomac River joins Chesapeake Bay and it's colder than a well-digger's ass here. My daughter lives on Capitol Hill, a stone's throw away from the Inauguration Site (and, yes, she's thinking about it) she assures me anyone on the platform will freeze on Monday.

I hauled out my telescope last night when the temp here was 30 with no wind and I could stand it for about 15 minutes and I was done for.

I'm hoping T.... catches pneumonia and doesn't live more than a few hours.

99. Newly-inaugurated president dies of pneumonia....

In 1841, President William Henry Harrison died after only 32 days in office. As I recall from history class, the president wanted to look strong and manly, so despite the cold wind, he refused to wear a winter coat and hat. Then he gave the longest inaugural speech in history — about 2 hours they say. (This is about 3.5x longer than Biden).

Shortly thereafter, he came down with pneumonia and died.

108. They're now saying he died of typhoid from dirty water. And it sounds like he was fine until Mar 24th.

On Wednesday, March 24, 1841, Harrison took his daily morning walk to local markets, without a coat or hat. Despite being caught in a sudden rainstorm, he did not change his wet clothes upon return to the White House.[120] On Friday, March 26, Harrison became ill with cold-like symptoms and sent for his doctor,

The prevailing theory at the time was that his illness had been caused by the bad weather at his inauguration three weeks earlier.[126] Jane McHugh and Philip A. Mackowiak did an analysis in Clinical Infectious Diseases (2014), examining Miller's notes and records showing that the White House water supply was downstream of public sewage, and they concluded that he likely died of septic shock due to "enteric fever" (typhoid or paratyphoid fever).[127][128]

We like to think his inauguration brought him down, but it sounds like a Mar 24th rainstorm and possibly sewage was the problem.

Of course, we would like this to happen to Trump, but let's face it, it's 2025!

was a bit off in his storytelling. ....

Yeah, I like the original version better.... But this updated story does show us the importance of infrastructure.

105. Musk, Bezos and Zuckerberg to receive a key perk on Inauguration Day
Thu Jan 16, 2025, 10:09 AM

Incoming presidents do not generally want to be seen as rewarding the hyper-wealthy with special political perks. Team Trump apparently doesn’t much care.

https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/maddowblog/musk-bezos-zuckerberg-receive-key-perk-inauguration-day-rcna187793

What do Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg have in common? They’re all tech industry billionaires with nine-figure net worths that rival the GDPs of many countries. They also hold the top three slots on the Forbes 400 list. And as a political matter, they’ve also spent quite a bit of time — to varying degrees of genuflecting — cozying up to Donald Trump.

Their sycophantic efforts have apparently not gone unnoticed. NBC News reported:

Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg will attend President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration Monday, according to an official involved with planning the event. They will have a prominent spot at the ceremony, seated together on the platform with other notable guests, including Trump’s Cabinet nominees and elected officials.

Around the same time as the NBC News report was published, Musk confirmed online that he will, in fact, have a prominent spot at Monday’s inauguration......

As for the larger context, the latest column from The New York Times’ Ezra Klein about the president-elect and his “alliance of oligarchs” continues to ring true.

Trump is now flanked by an alliance of oligarchs led by Elon Musk. The billionaire owners of The Washington Post and The Los Angeles Times killed presidential endorsements of Kamala Harris, ABC News (owned by Disney) gave Trump’s “future presidential foundation and museum” $15 million to settle a defamation lawsuit Trump brought, Mark Zuckerberg is refocusing Meta platforms around “free expression” and his company against D.E.I., and Amazon reportedly paid $40 million for Melania Trump’s documentary about herself. Tim Cook, Sundar Pichai and a slew of other chief executives have recently traveled to Mar-a-Lago to dine with Trump. This differs from 2017, when Trump was treated as an aberration to be endured or a malignancy to reject. The billionaires see that the rules have changed. They are signaling their willingness to abide by them.

By playing by these new rules, Musk, Bezos and Zuckerberg will receive a special reward on Monday. What additional rewards should they expect in the coming weeks, months and years? Watch this space.

If we are lucky, TFG will give a two hour speech. Hopefully these assholes will all freeze during this event.
