And just one state, not ten (since there are ten provinces). With a population of 40 million, it would be the largest state in the country. If the House remained at 435 members—or even if it were expanded—this state would command a significant portion of representatives, likely with about 80% being Democrats. Additionally, its electoral votes would heavily favor the Democratic Party.

California has 40 million people and only 2 (count 'em, two) Senators.

Canada is an entire nation of its own and deserves to be let alone. They may have troubles of their own, as every nation does, but they have nothing like our gun fetish.

In California we're getting damned tired of just being viewed as a bottomless pocket book for presidential candidates, and having elections decided by the smaller "battleground states."

Dakota Territory was divided into two states, creating two additional senate seats. California has discussed breaking into three states for the same reason.
