IDF Soldier Flees Brazil Amid Gaza War Crimes Investigation

An Israeli soldier accused of committing war crimes in Gaza has fled Brazil where he was vacationing when the case was brought against him in the South American country.

The unidentified soldier is accused of participating in the mass demolition of civilian homes in Gaza amid Israel's war against Hamas in the Palestinian enclave.

Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid lambasted the need for a soldier to flee a country where they were vacationing in the dark of night to evade investigation as "a huge political failure."

"How did we get to the point where the Palestinians are better than the Israeli government in the international arena?" he asked on X.

Gaza’s Health Ministry reports that a total of 45,854 combatants and civilians have been killed and 109,139 wounded, injured, or maimed in Israel’s Nakba against the Palestinians following the 7 Oct 2023 surprise attack which resulted in 1,269 Israelis deaths and 250 captives taken for a prisoner swap.

On 21 Nov 2024, the ICC at the Hague issued an international arrest warrant for Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu for alleged war crimes. Similarly, on 17 Mar 2023 the ICC had issued a warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

These indictments are merely allegations. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

That would be a "collective punishment" that would include the Israeli left, but I understand the anger and the sentiment.

By a margin of 428 to 88, the American Historical Association has voted to condemn the Israeli scholasticide in Gaza.

More double standards, complete with a made up concept only applied to the Jewish state. Not a word in the statement about UNWRA and their connections to Hamas.

HSI Washington, D.C. investigation leads to war crimes charges for 4 individuals affiliated with the Russian military
WASHINGTON – Four Russia-affiliated military personnel have been charged with war crimes following an investigation conducted by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Washington D.C. field office, FBI’s Washington, D.C. field office, HSI’s Human Rights Violators and War Crimes Center, and FBI’s International Human Rights Unit. The charges, which are the first to be filed against Russia-affiliated personnel following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, were unsealed Dec. 6, at the Robert F. Kennedy Department of Justice Building in Washington, D.C.

Russia-affiliated individuals Suren Seiranovich Mkrtchyan, Dmitry Budnik, Valerii LNU (last name unknown), and Nazar LNU were each charged with unlawfully detaining a U.S. national in the context of the armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The alleged perpetrators are accused of interrogating, severely beating and torturing the victim. They also allegedly threatened to kill the victim and conducted a mock execution.

And they invaded another sovereign nation.

Israel is trying to defend itself from terrorists who have embedded themselves in ALL the surrounding nations.

The only goalposts are western civilization.

maybe they should stop filming videos of themselves committing them and then uploading them to TikTok and YouTube, which other countries' soldiers are smart enough not to do, afaik.

Seriously? That's some brilliant rewriting of history there. I'd like to see how the genital-slicing of music festival attendees fits into that logic. What a complete and utter joke.
