What is an "Easter Egg?"
In computer software, Easter eggs are secret responses that occur as a result of an undocumented set of commands. The results can vary from a simple printed message or image to a page of programmer credits or a small video game hidden inside an otherwise serious piece of software.
For example, in a Tesla, hitting the fart button while pressing the "MAGA 2024" button at the same time.
What happens when you do so?
Sample of a Tesla touchscreen we got from unreliable sources.

(24,433 posts)wouldn't be at all surprised that it is an attempt by the programmers to insert their names into such software to immortalize their names forever. Not surprised. There is so much software out there, where no credits are really provided to the large number of people who devoted a big part of their lives to developing such software, unlike music, books, etc., where there is at least some acknowledge of their contribution.
As a software writer, I do have at least one immortalized piece of software w/ my name on it, and that's nice. My nephew found it when he was at his job (looking for a digital equivalent of an AMA record), found my name out there. That was nice for me.
Remember, when you're on a website, or using some software or such, there are thousands of developers, writers, etc. behind the scenes. Maybe one day, we all strike and demand more recognition?

(24,433 posts)imagine what they go through? Most don't really freak out about it, but some do actually.

You might think that a popular name is "safe" but Karen is popular. So it goes.
When we were expecting, we went over the list of names.
I couldn't think of a single male name that didn't have some bad example. Except mine, but we weren't into a "junior"
Baby girl saved us the problem, and was named for her grandmother; No bad examples came to mind.
Not Barbie

(5,830 posts)Im a fellow programmer. My name is indeed in projects, though, unintentionally. Theyre more there as a, Go complain and bug to this person if youve been unlucky enough to have this shoved onto your lap to fix.
