Fuck Musk.

(1,350 posts)And who the heck is buying them? Sales are supposed to be sagging quickly (as is usual with any quirky automotive design, as those who like it are quickly satiated), and the majority around this blue area are presumably repelled by Musk, while the Trumpy minority would rather burn coal. I have no idea who's buying all the ones I see. I'm not seeing any stickers on them to indicate their alignment -- no Thin Blue Lines or Punisher skulls like you see on the MAGAmobiles, nor anything overtly Musky like Occupy Mars, nor anything democratic or progressive either.
This morning a Hummer EV went by and while I was mentioning it, a Deplorean went by right after it. The Hummer didn't look that huge -- hard to believe it can be almost a ton heavier than the Cyberdumpster.
I notice nobody likes the stainless look. 90% of the ones I see have a wrap on them.

(34,873 posts)There were some unresolved reports that the cybertruck, rented through Turo, used in the Las Vegas incident was ultimately owned by Elon Musk.
With sales so pitiful, I can see Musk resorting to renting them out.

They do have nice styling, if not my cup of tea.

(13,686 posts)We're looking at SUV/mini-van type EVs (we haul between 4 and 6 people due to the household size), the cardboard truck fits none of our criteria.
If I wanted an EV truck, there are others that provide better ease of driving and more utility than the Cyberbunk.
After all, would you load 500 lbs of manure in the back of one? How about 20 bags of cement, 4 gallons of paint and primer, a 25 gallon bucket of roofing adhesive, tarpaper, and shingles, 8 sheets of plywood, and a couple dozen 8 ft. long 2x4's and a bucket of nails to build a shed?
I've done both, back when I had a 1979 full bed Ford Ranger. Just go through with a broom, then sprayed the bed down with a high pressure hose setting to get the gunk out, then run it through a carwash and it looked good as relatively new.
That was a truck.

(6,282 posts)I had never heard about them, people mentioned them this summer at an event and said the cybertruck looks like a garbage dumpster, when they showed me a pic I agreed 😁
