2. Nah, not the first week. The incentive for keeping quiet is the possibility of a pardon.

The potential pardon is the carrot. Once pardoned, the carrot is gone... and then a stick (i.e. threats) must be used instead. The stick is riskier.

It won't work forever, of course, because at some point the manipulated party gets wise that the carrot is never going to be given. But the carrot is superior in the short run, while its effectiveness lasts.

Nothing came from Epstein's alleged death. 5,000 or so pages of documents, nothing happened, no real consequences. No video, no lengthy lists of names/deeds, records of blackmail...nothing. Wonder why. Everyone waited for a frogmarch of many sexual predators of children, but that all just slipped the average American mind, always moving along to the next media outrage or shiny thing. So convenient, these outrage factories.

If he had nothing, she has nothing else...we'll ever hear about, or will ever be prosecuted.
