Its going to take place on January 19th, the day before he's sworn in as president.
Naturally, he's not calling it American Ignorance Day. He's calling it a "Victory Rally."

Try to imagine Ronald Reagan, or even George W. Bush, holding a "Victory Rally" the day before being inaugurated. A celebration like this seems to redefine the word "chutzpah" as an act of humility.
To me, it's a "celebration" of a voting day on which America went bugshit insane. How could anyone who watched the madness of his first term vote for him again? Why would anyone want to live through another four years of a clueless man who acted on any whim of the moment? When did people become so brain dead that they couldn't recognize the danger to all of their freedoms? Why did ignorance become acceptable to so many?
Some (many?) believe the election was "stolen." Actually, it may have been, but in a way that's become virtual standard operating procedure for the Republicans. It's called "voter suppression" and it comes in many forms. Voters can be "scrubbed" from voter lists without knowing it. Polling places can be closed, making in difficult for many to get to a location where they can vote. In some areas, ballots can somehow get "lost." The Republican propaganda machine can convince many that their vote is useless, or a waste of time. Call it what you will. I call it a well-established system for election theft.
But back to the day before inauguration day. Trump is pissed that flags will be at half mast on that day and the next, in honor of Jimmy Carter. Jimmy Carter is one of the most decent, honorable public figures that has ever led this country. Donald Trump is unrivaled as the worst.
So can all sane/thoughtful people agree that Trump's "Victory Rally" is among one of America's most shameful moments?
And for those of you who voted for Trump with no regrets, all I can say is that you have many unpleasant surprises coming at you in the near future. Unfortunately, in addition to screwing yourselves, you've screwed America.

(51,471 posts)The Nuremberg rallies (officially Reichsparteitagⓘ, meaning Reich Party Congress) were a series of celebratory events coordinated by the Nazi Party in Germany. The first Nazi Nuremberg rally took place in 1923.[1] This rally was not particularly large and did not have much impact; however, as the party grew in size, the rallies became more elaborate and featured larger crowds. They played a seminal role in Nazi propaganda events, conveying a unified and strong Germany under Nazi control. The rallies became a national event once Adolf Hitler rose to power in 1933, when they became annual occurrences. Once the Nazi dictatorship was firmly established, the party's propagandists began filming them for a national and international audience. Nazi filmmaker Leni Riefenstahl produced some of her best known work including Triumph of the Will (1934) and The Victory of Faith (1933), both filmed at the Nazi party rally grounds near Nuremberg.[2]

To some, the Nazi era is ancient history. To others, it's a false comparison, as they cannot see "The Greatest Country in the World" becoming Nazi Germany. To others, it's "a consummation devoutly to be desired."
No matter how many ways I've said it in past posts, it seems that far too few see the nature of the future that is about to descend on us.
My greatest wish is that I'm wrong.
