No parent of a victim of pedophilia gives a damn about the party affiliation of the creep who physically and psychologically hurt their child. No extended family who ever had to deal with this issue gives a damn about the party affiliation of the human garbage who committed a crime that, in many ways, is worse than murder. Republicans in general care less about people than Democrats. Just look at their agendas.
Republicans are all in as "God fearing Christians", but that's not how they act. Actions always speak louder than words.
It's not so much about the party, as it is about the kind of people who are attracted to the party.
