Republicans push for swift confirmation of controversial Trump nominees in the wake of the New Orleans attack

Republicans push for swift confirmation of controversial Trump nominees in the wake of the New Orleans attack (Insider)

Fifteen people are confirmed dead after an individual drove a car through a crowd on Bourbon Street early on Wednesday morning. The FBI has identified a suspect, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, and the attack is being investigated as an act of terrorism.

"This is a clear example of why the Senate must get President Trump's national security team in place as quickly as possible," wrote Sen. John Thune of South Dakota, the incoming Senate Majority Leader.

While some of Trump's national-security nominees are expected to be easily confirmed by the US Senate, others have faced a variety of controversies.

They include defense secretary nominee Pete Hegseth, FBI director nominee Kash Patel, and former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, Trump's nominee to be director of national intelligence.

The confirmation process needs to take a long time because the candidates are unqualified and need to be replaced. Especially the big four: RFinKjr, Hoochseth, Cash, and Repulsive Gabbard.

The more they are held in the light the more the public smells their stink, confirmed or not.

lemme see. an ‘assassination attempt’ that didnt hurt him, and wasnt investigated, happens the same day as the details of his plea deal in epstein’s fla case r released. (sorry, that was so fake it makes my teeth hurt.)
then a second ‘attempt’, likewise not investigated, since too many ppl saw through the 1st 1.

now, as the headwind ramp up, we get this shit. all trumpkins.

sorry, too many coincidences for me.

They won't do more than complain about it some. There are things at play here that rival a freaking spy novel, and yet we just sit here and worry about car payments.

We are so programmed.

So, something went wrong with our military veterans, and the answer is to appoint the wackiest, most unqualified people to positions of power?

You know what I think? Facts don't matter to the Trump administration. They have an agenda and they're going to intentionally misinform the public to confuse and scam his supporters into going along with that plan.

Never did we need a competent legacy media more than today, and it's the one thing we can't depend on.

drug addicts, conspiracy theorists, and the mentally ill in charge of national security. What could possibly go wrong? And when the next terror attack doesn't get thwarted? Who will you blame?

After 9/11 Congress rushed through the "Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001," better known as the USA PATRIOT Act (which has been softened to "Patriot Act." )

The PATRIOT Act was passed by the House on October 24, the Senate on October 25, and signed into law by President George W. Bush on October 26. Many members complained they had not had time to read the 342 page document, much less hold hearings on its scope. The RW used the sense of urgency caused by the terrorist attacks to pass a "wish list" of things which would have been rejected out-of-hand otherwise.

The Act allowed for warrantless wiretaps and searches of business records, monitoring individuals without their knowledge, the use of "sneak and peek" warrants, indefinite detention of non-citizens without trial, increased racial and religious profiling, particularly targeting Muslim and Arab communities. The Act granted significant powers to law enforcement agencies with limited oversight, leading to concerns about potential abuse of power and the lack of accountability.

That's possibly the best example of "never waste a crisis" in recent times. That's what we're seeing now. T***p and his supporters are lying about the events in New Orleans to create a crisis that they intend to use to shove horribly unqualified and dangerous people into positions of power. There is speculation that he will use the "crisis at the border" to declare martial law (not marshal law), which will be hidden behind an innocuous name. Anyone who objects will be jailed indefinitely. Protests will be met with deadly force. And Congress will be forced into recess by T***p "until the crisis passes," giving Felon47 the power he so craves -- to be a dictator.

"Stay woke," everybody.
