Linda Bean, the granddaughter of L.L. Bean founder Leon Leonwood Bean, donated $60,000 to Making America Great Again LLC, according to the Associated Press. That contribution exceeded the Federal Election Commission’s allowable limit for the PAC and her support has prompted some to push for a boycott of the Maine-based company.

Trump, however, predicted that Bean’s support for him would only boost the company’s bottom line.

“Thank you to Linda Bean of L.L.Bean for your great support and courage,” he wrote on Twitter Thursday morning. “People will support you even more now. Buy L.L.Bean.

Besides, allowing myself to fall victim to rigid political stance to the point where I would participate in economic terrorism isn't in the cards for me. I think it's silly to be frank about it. Just like it's silly when MAGA does it.

Along with the link, I literally included the disclaimer "I am not sure how comprehensive this list is." So, there's that. Further, there are only three kinds of posts I make. (1) straight up informational, which include links to my sources, (2) straight up editorializing, which only include my opinions, and (3) irreverent commentary, albeit attempting to avoid poo poo and pee references that seem so popular these days (sometimes I fail). The post atop this thread is informational and therefore belongs to category (1).

Celerity

36. But you are the one that posted the list on DU. Saying you do not know how 'comprehensive' it is is not the same
Fri Jan 3, 2025, 02:05 AM
Friday

as saying you are unsure of the accuracy of it.

Also, the only link you gave was the link to the list itself.

And again, the list conflates individual employee contributions with the firms themselves.

The list is misleading and in some cases inaccurate, as I showed with my reply.

2 other examples: (from the list, and I can show more)

Wonder Bread

Wonder Bread is not a company, it is just a brand name.

LL Bean (vast majority of contributions went to Dems and Dem associated indies and liberal orgs, yet under the bus they go on the list you posted)

https://www.opensecrets.org/orgs/ll-bean-inc/summary?id=D000042703

other contributions (to the independents King and Sanders) and then to liberal orgs other than direct contributions to individual Democratic candidates

This, from Democrat Abroad's own website:

https://www.democratsabroad.org/our_party

Democrats Abroad is the official Democratic Party arm for the millions of Americans living outside the United States. We strive to provide Americans abroad a Democratic voice in our government and elect Democratic candidates by mobilizing the overseas vote.

Democrats Abroad has 52 country committees throughout Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. These country committees keep Americans abroad informed of their rights and help them participate in the U.S. political process. Our members live in more than 190 countries around the globe and vote in every state and Congressional district in the U.S.

Democrats Abroad is recognized as a "state" Party by the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and is represented on the DNC by eight voting members, as well as at the quadrennial Democratic National Convention.

Again, this is from their website...

https://www.democratsabroad.org/companies_that_donated_to_trump_and_project_2025

The following companies have donated to Trump and Project 2025. Try to avoid giving them your money. Please share this with your Democratic friends and family.

The site went on to refer to such businesses as promoting fascism.

For me this list means no more NY Yankees games, no more Hershey's chocolate and no more Dairy Queen ice cream.

No one except Tractor Supply sells the horse feed we use, so we're stuck going there. I do go directly to the manufacturer websites for the smaller things like supplements.

We get as much as we can from Aldi, but have to fill in the rest at Walmart. Walmart and Amazon have pretty much made sure we have to go to them for things we can't get anywhere else.

Anyway, thanks for the list.

A daily populist conspiracy theory in 2016 was that Hillary was 100% corrupt and beholden to Wall Street, had to do whatever they said forever and ever, by convincing people that donations of a few hundred dollars from employees working for companies on Wall Street were actually from the evil neoliberal big money status quo Goldman Sachs and other evil financial companies. So stupid!
