https://joycevance.substack.com/p/we-need-to-talk-about-thisTodays widely discussed Trump post on Truth Social isnt just another instance of bad behavior. Its not just a shrug of the shoulders and a resigned sigh of, What are you going to do? Far too often, people resignedly accept Trumps behavior because they believe theres no alternative. The zeitgeist is: We cant make him stop, can we?
Heres Trumps Truth Social post. Its a video, and although I hate to send you to Truth Social, you can watch the whole thing here. Or read on for my description. What you need to know is that this is unprecedented and out of bounds. If you or I did this, the Secret Service would be on our doorstep within hours.
Donald Trump, by the way, is out on bond ahead of trial in four separate criminal cases. Today, he threatened the President of the United States. Its time for the people with authority to do so to deal with him. Sure, hes the Republican Partys presidential candidate, but they wont reign him in. And someone is going to get hurt if he isnt.
What is this? Its a video that Trump posted on his Truth Social account today, around 12:38 p.m. The subject of the clip is two trucks in full Trump 2024 regalia, driving down the highway. The second one has a full-size, full-color image across the back gate of Joe Biden, unconscious, arms and legs bound as though hes been kidnapped and left in the back of the pickup truck. As the truck drives off the camera zooms in on the image, just to make sure theres no missing it.

The situation is very scary plus it makes my blood boil.

(13,018 posts)That the Mighty United States is now a wimpy ass coward of a country that we do nothing to confront a Terrorist Cleric leader that just keeps kicking our justice system in the balls while edging his cult on to attack and kill Americans that will not bow to him.
The world is seeing us as a shivering terrified country afraid of a fat ass loud mouth asshole.
Let him do anything he wants because we are afraid of what his ignorant cult might do.
What the hell happened to us? All the graves filled with dead soldiers that gave all to not allow this shit here, did not cower worrying about what might happen.
This veteran is fucking ashamed.
Treat them like any terrorist on other soil.
Or cower in a corner.

(2,937 posts)And we, citizens of the United States, do what? Millions--and then more millions--of us are sick and tired of this, we want him locked up forever like every single damn one of us would be if we did half of what he has done, and this means nothing. He knows this. He knows that there are about 3-4 people, judges, who can put him in jail, and he knows every one of those cowards are afraid of him. They bow before him, and the millions of citizens who want him dead mean nothing. Three or four people, that's all he has to get through to stay free. Piece of cake.
I was embarrassed to be an American when he was president, and he is once again embarrassing us all by proving that our system of justice is made of tissue paper. There is no system of justice for the rich and for a demented man in full diapers doing and saying whatever he wants in his toddler tantrums. Every person in every other civilized country is baffled why he is not in prison, like he would be in their country.
If I were them, I would wonder why in a country so utterly gun-crazed, he has not been shot. Russians probably wonder why he has not fallen out a window.

And we all agree he should fall out of a window from His now Tallest rat infested whites only building in the city that threw him out like a month of that cities trash. And the building that Eric and Jr personally laid every brick during construction.

(2,937 posts)If some ambitious lawyer would open a class action suit against Donnie, citizens of US vs Donnie, for emotional distress, which is a thing you can sue for, I have no doubt at least two million Americans would sign up to sue him. I'm sure would also donate to publicize it, billboards, mass mailings, etc. It would be nice if the American people could stand up to him. He doesn't own us and we aren't afraid of him. What a concept.
From Utah lawyers' site:
Emotional distress refers to the psychological or mental suffering experienced by an individual as a result of extreme or traumatic events, actions, or circumstances. It encompasses a wide range of negative emotions, such as fear, anxiety, grief, humiliation, and even shock. Keep in mind that emotional distress can vary in intensity and duration, and its effects can be deeply personal and subjective. Legal claims for emotional distress generally aim to seek compensation for the psychological harm suffered and to hold responsible parties accountable for their actions.

And we know full well that if any of us had done a fraction of these crimes
we would have been in prison a long time ago.

Shift the discourse to one where mob violence becomes the norm. On orders from Putin and his army of media bots, the only army he has left.

Everything they do and say benefits Putin. A war from within.
There's probably a money trail if you need proof, but hard to find.

(2,127 posts)Putin has the long range planning and the money and the tools and the fools. His minions are amazingly successful in doing damage to the country: dividing us, destroying our faith in elections and the courts. We are ripe for a dictatorship and withdrawal from NATO and the world scene.
I just wonder how he hasn't laughed himself to death at the spectacle of his GOP circus.

(23,240 posts)Has the original video creator been visited by the Secret Service?
Kathy Griffin got a visit when she took a photo with a decapitated Trump head.
John Schneider called for Biden to be hung, he got a visit from the Secret Service.
Many other non-celebrities made the news when the Secret Service investigated their threats against Biden, although those threats tended to be more specific and graphic than Schneiders.
So, where is the line?
I dont have the answer, but here is some background:

Substack is available to everyone. What may look lke a paywal, isn't - you just click on the escape phrase (it differs, but two of their favorites are "Let me read it first" and "Continue reading." I'm not crazy about that, but I got over it and recommend getting over it. It seems like everyone worth reading is on Substack, or will be. Andy Borowitz just started there, and I learned today from Thom Hartmann that both he and Bandy Lee are there, besides Mary Trump.
